Cleaning Viruses from your computer

In a cyber world infested with numerous viruses it is almost necessary to have a good anti-virus on your computer. We at the IT dept know that your data is important and hence install anti virus in every computer that goes out of our doors. But it might not be enough your home computers or flash drives might still be infected and capable of wrecking havoc if gone unnoticed for long.
Here are a few things you can do protect your computer from an attack:

  • Install a good anti-virus on your computer. Make sure it scans your PC every now and then.
  • Clean your external Hard drives and Flash Drives regularly.
  • If you connect your memory device to an infected PC make sure you clean it before connecting it to another computer.
  • Do not open executable files (with an .exe/.msi extension) received from an unknown source, or an email.

If even after all this you get infected then clean your PC.
